Oprah Launches Podcast with Oprah’s Book Club Authors in Partnership with Starbucks

Los Angeles, December 3, 2024 – A new weekly podcast series The Oprah Podcast featuring talk show host, producer and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey launched today anchored by monthly conversations with Oprah’s Book Club authors presented by Starbucks. In the new series, global media leader Oprah hosts conversations around what matters most to people in this moment, with the conversation also available to view for free on her YouTube channel, accessible globally for an international audience. Oprah will welcome today’s foremost thought leaders, global newsmakers, best-selling authors, visionaries and cultural changemakers to explore timely themes including happiness, resilience, consciousness and connection to help listeners on their journey to lead their best life. The audio version of every episode will be available wherever podcasts are available.
As part of the new weekly podcast, a monthly interview with Oprah’s Book Club authors kicks off with the first pick in this series, Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, published by Grove Atlantic and available now wherever books are sold. “Oprah’s Book Club: Presented by Starbucks” author interviews will be filmed in Starbucks cafes, with the first conversation taking place at the Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building store in New York City. Each book will also have an official Starbucks beverage pairing beginning with the Starbucks Christmas Blend, a rich and robust blend made from dark-roasted beans from Latin America, Indonesia and Sumatra. Additional content about the author and related themes from the book will be available for readers on OprahDaily.com, the online hub of Oprah’s Book Club, along with @OprahsBookClub on Instagram.
“Connecting with people about what matters to us in this moment, so we can all continue to reach our highest, truest potential is what I’m most interested in offering at this time in my life,” said Oprah Winfrey. “As one of my greatest pride and joys this past 30 years has been introducing books to new audiences, I am delighted to partner with Starbucks as we craft this new podcast. It is the perfect opportunity to bring together readers around things we both love: books, coffee and conversation.”
Oprah announced her latest book club selection and podcast partnership with Starbucks on CBS Mornings, as she appeared in-studio with author Claire Keegan.
“To know that Oprah Winfrey took pleasure in reading my book is the most exquisite compliment, which will last my lifetime,” said Small Things Like These author Claire Keegan. “To be told that she has also recommended it for others to read and has chosen this novel for her book club is a tremendous honor. May her wonderful book club encourage people into reading for years and years to come.”
Small Things Like These is a tale of one man’s courage and a remarkable portrait of love and family. The audiobook version, narrated by Aidan Kelly and published by HighBridge, an RBmedia audio brand, is also available here. Claire Keegan’s works of fiction are internationally acclaimed and have been translated into thirty languages, earning her the Woman of the Year for Literature in Ireland (2022), Author of the Year (2023), the Seamus Heaney Award for Arts and Letters, and the Siegfried Lenz Award (2024). Small Things Like These, a New York Times Best Book of the 21st Century, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the Rathbones Folio Prize and won the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction and The Kerry Prize for Irish Novel of the Year. Previous works include Antarctica, Walk the Blue Fields, Foster and So Late in the Day.
This latest venture between Oprah and Starbucks marks their third collaboration. The first was in 1997 when Oprah’s Book Club selections were made available in Starbucks stores with proceeds going to literacy funds, and then in 2014 Oprah paired with Starbucks to create the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea, which raised over $21 million to support youth education organizations across the country.
